Thank God I'm Still Alive.

Today, within five minutes, I had two heart attacks. Firs when I was sitting in the library a guy (my old RA, hyresvard) snuck up on me and scared "the shit out of me". After I had calmed down, I packed my belongings and got ready to leave the library and drive home. I get to the car and as I am unlocking it something fires, for a tenth of a second I'm thinking gun-shots. After what has happened lately you're always a little extra careful. But after the tenth of a second I realize that it was only fireworks, fireworks for Obama's presidency. You know me, I'm like the most easily scared person ever, so you can imagine how I felt during those two incidents.

I got home, safe =), and turned on the TV as McCain is giving a speech. Of course he is trying to end this whole campaign period on a good note, and not a bad word is said, and when the audience is buuing he asks them to be quite and no matter what, fight for their country. He finishes his speech along the lines of this:

"We never give up, We never surrender, We are Americans who will continue to make history".

Obviously McCain was hopeing for another result, but I'm not gonna lie, I wanted Obama to win. For the first time in quite a while the newly elected president has a huge opportunity to make a change.
Before the voting started it felt like Arkansas was going to vote for McCain, Arkansans are, as some of you may know, very conservative, after all it is a part of the Bible Belt. So not very surprisingly Arkansas went for McCain. Lots and lots of African/Americans are at this very moment in ecstasy, never ever has there been a person running for president with black blood in him. This is Huge. On the streets driving back I did not know who had won, but by seeing African/American people outside celebrating it was not hard to figure out who had won. With Obama as the president a light has been lit, a light for change and hope to bring America back on its feet, make it the Super power is was and should be.

-"America can change. Yes, we can."
~"Yes, we can."

I must say though, that there are by far more people here, compared to Sweden, that does not care to vote. Even worse, the don't vote, but they have an opinion. Sometimes an opinion about something they don't know. For instance, one of the girls I live with said: "I might as well not go to school so I'll end up without a job, because I will get money anyways. Yeah, that's right, just look at his tax-plan. Obama is going to take money from the rich and give it to the poor."

Poor girl, grow up a little will ya.
